Visit by UNIDO India to study Cement sector in Wallonia - October 2016

On 18 and 19 October 2016, a delegation headed by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in India, in collaboration with AWEX Delhi, visited Wallonia to study the cement sector and interact with the local players in the cement sector. The delegation comprised participants from the National Council for Cement and Building Materials (NCCBM) and UNIDO India.

The intention behind the visit was to study the current technologies in the cement sector in Wallonia and their possible integration in India.

UNIDO, In collaboration with the Indian "Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion" (DIPP), has established a technological development program in the cement sector. The program goal is to expose the Indian cement industry experts with the latest technologies, including optical energy efficiency and "best practices". For this, the program envisages sending Indian experts abroad to cement visits and meetings of companies in the cement sector.

This was thus a unique opportunity to present the activity of Walloon companies in the sector and their suppliers.

A welcome programme was organised for this delegation by the UWE (Union Wallonnes des Entreprises), in collaboration with AWEX.
